Quieter Home Program Residential Construction

The Quieter Home program, the Airport Authority’s residential sound insulation program, has surpassed a major milestone, having made improvements to more than 3,500 homes since the program began in 2001.

This month, the Program will begin construction on homes in the Loma Portal, Ocean Beach, Midtown, South Park and Golden Hill communities. We anticipate completion of 102 more homes by August 31st, and estimated total of 355 by the end of 2018.

The Program, through FAA grant funding, can treat eligible residential properties that are most impacted by aircraft noise around San Diego International Airport. Our goal is to reduce the interior noise of homes by 5 decibels. If your home is eligible, you may receive acoustic treatments such as new windows, exterior doors and a filtered fresh air ventilation system.

Eligibility & How to Apply

Eligibility to receive program treatments is determined based on the location of the property and the average interior noise level within habitable spaces. Properties must be within the 65 decibel (dB) noise contour and have an average interior noise level at or above 45 dB with windows and doors closed.
